When Will We See Marvel’s Ant-Man in the Movies?

Text

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige told SFX magazine that it is expanding its universe on the big screen in something they like to call “Phase 2” and many new and great superheroes are on the way. With so many possibilities, the choices are endless, and it leaves 1 big question that we all are curious about is “Which Avenger will we see next?”

A poll on comicbookmovie.com lists a guy by the name of Ant-Man at the top of the list. Ant-Man real name Henry Pym is one of Marvel’s original Avengers as cited in Marvel comics. For this reason, many fans in the fan forums, and fan sites thought he would make an appearance in the first Avengers movie. It was teased but never came to be. The history of this character is that he is a scientist who invented a substance known as “Pym particles”. He uses these “Pym particles” to give him the ability to shrink and grow in size. Also with the use of his helmet it gives him the ability to talk to insects.

Now as far as appearing in the movies, it was definitely announced by Marvel Studios that Ant-Man will indeed have his own movie after the events of “Avengers 2”. This is the period in which they call “Phase 3”. This should schedule the release some time in the year 2015, which still seems like a long time to wait.

But Wait!

Recent rumors from Edgar Wright on his Twitter account have him possibly showing up in a Marvel movie prior to the release of his own movie in 2015. He hinted,”I directed one shot in another summer movie”. So that could be in an ending credits scene in “Iron Man 3″,”Thor: The Dark World”, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, and/or “Avengers 2”. Which one could it be? If it does happen, my guess is that he will make a small cameo in either “Thor: The Dark World” or the next Captain American movie, then make a larger appearance in “Avengers 2”. This will lead up to the untitled Ant-Man movie in early “Phase 3”.

With that said if you are familiar with Marvel and their comics this could lead to the creation of Ultron which Ant-Man was apart of according to wikia.com. Again that’s all speculation, but it’s always fun to be hopeful. I guess we will just have to wait and see!
